Frail and faltering follower of Jesus

Why I have hope

By Gavin Davies

The sun is shining, I’m breathing, my heart is beating, I have food, drink, clothes, a roof, employment, am not currently broke, I have the riches of friends and family. There are not currently bullets and bombs going off in my street. But this isn’t why I have hope.

Any of these things can be snatched in an instant.

Instead, I have hope because the King of Kings is on the throne in Heaven. Because His Word is active and living. Because His Spirit brings dead, sin-ravaged souls to life as His brothers and sisters.

It’s a hope that can’t die, can’t fade, is incorruptible.

It’s a hope that’s attainable by any who will repent of their sin and put their trust in Jesus.

“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star.” The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely. - Revelation 22:16-17

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man who asketh you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.” - 1 Peter 3:15
